Trouble comes in three's

Boy has it ever been a sucky few weeks!!  First we had a problem with our black tank backing up.We got that fixed, it cost over $300.00.  Next we had a power surge at the park we are in, we lost power and it would not come back on.  There were a few other people in the park that had the same problem.  Doug talked to a guy across from us and he said he had a mobile RV guy coming out to fix his unit.  We got the guys number and called him, he said he would stop by and fix our problem when he was done. We had to spend the night in a motel, another unnecessary cost!   It ended up being a fairly easy fix and cost us $168.00.  While this problem was being fixed the guy that delivers water was filling our tank and he heard a pop, the tank cracked!!  Wow, could anything else go wrong.   We decided to get a spot at Springhill RV Park for the winter because they are fully winterized and we can hook up our hose to get water instead of filling our water tank.  I was worried about that to begin with and also thought it would be hard on the pump working it for 5 months.  So, December 1st we will be moving to Springhill RV Park.  It is a bit of a hassle because we have to take our skirting off!  Oh well, once we are settled it will be OK.  We went to Bucars RV and talked to the service department about getting the tank fixed.  We booked our unit in for March 22nd, hopefully our extended warranty will cover this fix!  The guy that fixed our electrical problem is coming back to hard wire a surge protector to our unit so we won't have that problem again.  We are also getting a quote from him for installing a solar system, so we can do a lot of boondocking.  We will probably get that installed in May.  One good thing is that we are here only for this winter, then next winter we will be heading to warmer climates!!!!

Conditions Removed!!

Doug and I went to BC on the 2nd of Sept.  We rented a U-haul and our son & daughter in  law came on the weekend to help load.  We did 3 dump runs and a thrift store run, man I can't believe we had so much!!  We got the call on the 4th that the conditions were removed!  We were so releaved that the sale went through!  We can now focus on what we really want to do and that is travel in our Fifth Wheel!  It was an exhausting 5 days!  We left on Sunday to miss the long weekend rush on Monday! We didn't get home till 2AM, boy were we ever tired!!  Monday our son & daughter in law came to Cochrane to help us unload our things in our storage unit.  Then it was off to our daughters house to drop off what she wanted.  Then all of us went to our sons house to unload their stuff.  Our daughter ordered pizza, and we all sat and had a meal together!  There were only 5 things left to unload, so Doug and our son finished that off.  We left about 9:30PM and got back home at 10PM.  At least we were in bed by a decent time.  Our son dropped the U-Haul off in Airdrie on Tuesday morning for us, as we both had to work.  I am so glad that it is all finished.

House Sold!!!

Well after 5 long years our house has finally sold!  The closing date is September 4th, hopefully all conditions are met and it will go through.  The possession date is September 25th.  We will stay in Cochrane for the winter and the next summer season.  Then winter 2016 we will go south.  I am so excited!!!  We now have to rent a truck and a storage unit and get our stuff from the house.  We are planning to go Sept. 8th so we don't have to rush.  The kids have rented a uhaul trailer and are going up the 5th of Sept. to get the furniture they want.  Then we will go through the rest.  Hopefully all goes well and it will be done:)

35th Anniversary Vow Renewal

We had an awesome 35th Anniversary Party/Vow Renewal!  We spent June 2nd to 9th at Herman and Annette's farm for our Vow Renewal.  It was a great week!!  We got everything set up and ready for the party on Saturday!!  The weather was spectacular the whole week, we could not have asked for better.  Herman was able to get a Party Tent which was terrific.  We set it up and that is where we put the food and drink for the party.  Leon and Cindy were there with us and they were a huge help setting things up.  People started to arrive on Friday and Saturday morning.  This was a weekend camping party, and everyone had a lot of fun!  Brit Wilson was my photographer and did an amazing job of the photo's.  Nancy did an amazing job doing our cake!!  The ceremony was beautiful!!  We partied into the night and had a fantastic time!  I still can't believe we have been married for 35 years!!  Where did the time go.

Our 5 Day BC Trip

Packed up, hooked up and were on our way to BC.  We got to Ross Creek Campground early evening.  This campground is only 5 minutes from our house in Anglemont.  We picked up our key from Scott and Julie, then went to the house to check out the deck railing damage.  We were pleasantly surprised to find it would be a quick fix.  All Doug had to buy were some bolts.  Only one post was damaged and we had an extra in the garage, Yay!!!  Saturday was an extremely busy day!  We brought all our winter stuff to the house and unloaded it.  We then loaded all the stuff we need for the summer, plus our mattress (which was super heavy).  We went back to the campground and unloaded the stuff from the truck.  While I put things away, Doug went into Scotch Creek to Rona, to pick up the bolts.  When he got back, we went to the house and Doug worked on the Deck Railing.  I went through our pictures and other stuff and got things I needed for the Anniversary Party.  I also did all my laundry so I didn't have to use a laundromat, which was very nice!!  At about 4:30PM  we were finished.  We locked up the house and went back to the campground.  We unloaded the rest of the stuff from the truck, our golf clubs etc.  We then made drinks and relaxed for the rest of the evening.
Sunday was a very laid back relaxing day!  We got up, had breakfast and then sat in the sun for awhile.  We went to Recline Ridge Winery to buy a case of wine.  We talked to the guy there and I told him what I was wanting in a wine.  He let us taste the white wines they had, and we chose a very nice crisp white with a little sweetness to it.  When we got back to the campground we opened the chilled bottle and had that.  It is a very nice wine!!  We relaxed for the rest of the evening.
Monday we packed up and hooked up, we decided to go to Crazy Creek Campground and Hot Pools for our last day.  We stopped in Sicamouse and had breakfast, then to the Campground.  It was only 20 minutes from Sicamouse.  We got all set up and relaxed.  We went for a walk and checked out the rest of the campground.  We sat outside for quite awhile.  We then had supper and about 7PM we went to the hot pool.  It was so nice to relax in the pool.  Unfortunately it started to rain so our plans to have a campfire were squashed!!:(
Tuesday we packed up and got hooked up and left to go back to Alberta.  We are in Bow Rivers Edge Campground in Cochrane for the summer.  We got to the campground about 4:30PM.  We got all hooked up and are now settled in.

Moving Soon

I can't believe it is the end of April, time is going by so fast!!  This week we have to organise the storage compartment and take off the skirting on the fifth wheel.  We are going to be moving to Bow Rivers Edge Campground in Cochrane on May 1.  We will be checking in then heading to BC to our place in Anglemont.  We have some repairs to do and switch out our winter gear for summer gear.  I am excited to go, it is like a mini holiday!:)  I have also been planning our 35th Anniversary Vow Renewal Party!  I have slowly been purchasing things I need.  Spreading the purchases over a couple months is better than buying everything we need at once.  I am looking forward to that also, it is at the beginning of June.  We will be at the farm for the week so we can prepare and decorate!  Our friends Leon and Cindy will be their also, helping us.  My brother Herman is going to be at the farm too, and will be helping us get things together.  There will be mowing, decorating, the making of an arch, etc.  It will be a busy but fun time!  Drinks will be consumed around the fire pit in the evening with fun and laughter!!

injury update

Well, I went to my doctor for a follow up on my arm.  He checked the x-ray Banff Hospital took and said I don't have a fracture.  He checked my arm, and said it checked out good.  He told me that the people reading the x-rays are not radiologists and they often get the reading wrong.  Well that was the case in my x-ray.  I was happy to hear that it was not fractured.  I was babying my arm so as not to injure it worse.  It still hurts but I am able to do more with it now.  Time will heal it.  I just have to be careful with it.

Out of commission for awhile!

Well, I went skiing with my daughter Alyssa on Saturday to Lake Louise.  On the first run of the day I fell hard on my arm.  I got assessed at the first aid station, and was told to go to the hospital for x-rays.  They got a truck and took Alyssa and I down the hill to her truck.  We then drove to Banff Mineral Springs Hospital.  They got me in and x-rayed my arm.  I have a small hairline fracture on my upper arm.  Now I have to take it easy and not bump or bang it on anything.  The day was not a whole bust.  We did go for dinner in Banff, and at least had a day in the mountains.  It was a beautiful day too, just too bad we could not have skied the whole day!!

Update

The winter has been very mild so far!  I am very thankful for that, also not a lot of snow!  I know it is February and it can get cold but the long range forecast is for mild weather:)  We are still enjoying living in our fifth wheel, it is warm and cozy, and very much home!  I can't believe we are into February!  May 1st we will be moving back to Bow Rivers Edge RV Park in Cochrane.  I am looking forward to that.  Doug will be 2 min. from work and we will be close to all the amenities.  Also, I like BRE Rv Park better than where we are now.  We will have a spot backing onto a green space and the river!  Much prettier to look at than a bunch of stored RV's!!
We decided we will check in at BRE then head to BC.  Our deck railing broke off from all the snow they had, and our sign post was knocked over by the snow plow.  We were notified of that by the person doing house checks for us.  We are going to take our Fifth Wheel and stay at Ross Creek Store RV Park which is 5 min. from our house.  We don't have much at the house and I would have to do grocery shopping.  Our Fifth Wheel is fully stocked and much more convenient!!  I really hope our house will sell this year, then we can start our RV Travels!!!!
