Back in Kananaskis

We got the call to come back to Kananaskis.  We really enjoyed our stay in Oliver, BC at Apple Beach RV Park.  I am going to miss being right on the lake!!  We left on the 14th and stayed at Crazy Creek RV Resort for 1 night.  We wanted to take a dip in the hot pool but it was closed(was supposed to be open during covid)  they told us it would be open the next day.   We left Crazy Creek on May 15th and got to Kananaskis around 3:30. We got all set up and could not get a signal for our TV.  We were told we could take Terry's spot as she would not be coming back this year.  We moved and got our signal right away.

Doug started work on the 18th.  The campgrounds are opening June 1st, at 50% capacity.  It should be a very interesting summer this year.  We will see how the opening goes.  Hopefully it will go good and not be closed down again due to Covid-19 cases increasing.

Worrisome Times!!

Well a lot has happened in the world since I last wrote.  In February I flew back to Alberta from Phoenix to visit my sister.  Had an awesome visit with her and my brother!!  Got back to Phoenix and enjoyed the rest of the month in Quartzsite.  March 1st we went to Tucson and in our second week all hell broke loose with Covid-19!!  All Canadians were advised to come back to Canada!!  We packed up and started making our way north.  I called quite a few RV Parks and found them to either be full or not accepting new reservations due to Covid-19.  I finally found an RV Park in Oliver, BC that still took reservations.  I was able to secure a spot but not till the 30th of March.  We slowed our trek north and took our time.  On March 30th we crossed the border.  We had no problems crossing and the border guard told us to quarantine for 14 days, no stopping for groceries or anything!!  We were well stocked because we got groceries, and propane before we crossed into Canada.  We got to our RV Park and set up, we are now in a 14 day quarantine period.  Our spot here is gorgeous, we back onto the lake!
We were supposed to start working in Kananaskis May 1st, but due to the virus the parks are closed till May 19th at the earliest possibly later.  So we booked this site at the RV Park for the Month of May also.  Once out of quarantine I will be taking advantage of kayaking and paddle boarding on the lake.  It will be very easy to social distance on the lake😍   I am hoping and praying that this virus will get under control and we can all get back to normal.

Update

Well, Christmas has come and gone!!  I was quite bummed out!  This was the first Christmas away from the Kids and Grandkids!  Thank goodness for technology.  We face timed with them and saw them open their presents😍  Not quite as good as being there, but next to it.
We will be in Quartzsite till the 29th of January, then we move on.  I am looking forward to that!  There is literally nothing to do in Quartzsite unless you have an ATV!  We will be heading to Lake Havasu next.  We will stay at Lone Pine, free camping.  While there, we will Golf and spend time on the lake in the Kayak and on the Paddle Board.
I bought a hummingbird feeder and small pole to put up.  We have had 3 different kinds of hummingbirds at our feeder.  I love these little guys!!  The sunsets have been spectacular!  I will add some pictures.  The one little guy with the red head is elusive!  I have yet to get a good photo of it.
Today we are going to go to the rock and gem show as it is on till the 12th.  Hoping to get some cool stuff for the grandkids!!  The next big show will be the RV show which starts on the 18th of January.  Looking forward to wandering through and see what they have!

Destination Quartzsite!!

We left Osoyoos on November 22nd, crossed the border with them taking my celery and peppers, also my cactus!  At least I was able to keep the pot it was in😁  I really like the pot and I can use it for other things.  Our first night we stopped at the flying J travel center in Ellensburg, Washington.  The next day we traveled to Bend, Oregon and stayed at Scandia RV Park for 2 nights.  Doug needed a break from driving😉.  November 25th we traveled to Susanville, California and stayed overnight at Diamond Mountain Casino.  We went in and had dinner, then I took $20.00 and played the slot machine, 1 machine and over an hour later I was down to $6.00 then the bells went off and I was up to $25.00.  I decided to not push my luck and cashed out.😄  The next morning we traveled to Tonopah, Nevada.  I was watching the weather and there was a winter weather advisory .  We stayed at the Tonopah Station Casino.  We had full hookups for $23.00/night!😍  We woke up to snow and fog😣  not good!! We went in and had breakfast and decided that we should push on, as the brunt of the storm had not hit yet.  The area was forecasting 7 inches of snow!!  We got on the road and found it not bad.  A few miles further we hit snow and terrible road conditions!! Luckily it was only about 15 miles, it then cleared and we had sunny and dry conditions.  We were staying ahead of the forecasted storm!! We stopped in Searchlight, Nevada at Terrible Herbst Chevron, a truck stop.  It was sunny when we woke up.  We went into the McDonalds and had breakfast, then on the road again.  Each day of our travels we averaged 5 to 6 hours.  Today was a 2 1/2 hour day to Quartzsite.  We got to Holiday Palms RV Park but the office was closed due to American Thanksgiving.  We were told to go into one of the drive through over night spots, then check into our site in the morning when the office opened.  That night we had horrendous winds and a torrential down pour!! I thought we were going to float away😂  The next morning we went to the office and they .gave us our site.  Tony guided us to our site, but there was no way we were getting into that one.  We went back to the office for them to give us a different site.  After about a half hour wait😥  we finally got another site.  This one we were able to get into, thank goodness.  We got set up and were able to relax. We walked around to check out the place.  The wind was bad again, although it was warm 18c😁  We will be here for 2 months.

Winery Tour

On Sunday the 2nd we went on a Winery Tour with friends of ours  Claude and Val.  They live in Oliver which is only about 19km's from Osoyoos, where we are staying.  We went to their place and visited for a bit before taking off on the tour.  We hadn't seen them in 3 years, so it was so good to get to spend time with them.  We met when we all worked at Scotch Creek Prov. Park in the the Shuswap.  We toured 4 wineries:  River Stone Estate, Hidden Chapel, Rust Wine Co. and CC Jentsch cellars.  I bought wine at all of them!!  Hidden Chapel was so  pretty and they had a small Chapel that we checked out, I bought 2 bottles of wine at this winery, I  couldn't choose😉there were 2 whites that I really liked!!  After touring 2 wineries we went for a bite to eat, then carried on.  We also got to see a brand New Winery that is not opened yet (Phantom Creek), Claude works security there.  It is going to be a gorgeous Winery, and it is huge!!  The view is spectacular from this winery!!  After this we went back to Claude and Val's place and had dinner.  She made a delicious Salmon!!  We had such a good visit with these great friends!!  All to soon it was time to go home😞  We will be getting together again before we leave Osoyoos for warmer climates!!

On the Move

Well, we left Kananaskis September 14th.  We went to Airdrie and spent 1 night in the Walmart parking lot.  September 15th we got up had breakfast at Tim Horton's then hit the road to go to Herman and Annette's farm!  We got there mid afternoon and got set up.  We stayed by the cabin because Herman had our area road dug up to put gravel in it.  We were able to hook up to 15amp power which was great.  Leon and Cindy got here on the 16th, they set up on the road in front of the new shop, they also had 15amp power.  The shop is so gorgeous!!  It is huge!!   The weather this year was fantastic!!  We had such a good time!!  Alyssa and the girls came out and Steven, Nancy and the boys came out for the weekend.  It was so great they were able to come out and spend time with us!!  The kids had a blast driving(yes driving!!) the quad!  Doug helped Herman put in a new front gate at the property, well, just the posts as they needed to get new concrete because the old stuff was out of date and did not set properly.  Luckily they were able to get the posts out and put new concrete in the hole.  They got the new posts in and let them set.  Unfortunately we had to leave as I had a doctors appointment.  We left on Oct. 2nd and made it to Cochrane, the office at Bow Rivers Edge was closed so we picked a spot and in the morning went and paid for a week.  We actually stayed a week and a half as we went to watch Jaiden's football team play their first playoff game.  They won!!  Herman and Annette came and stayed for 1 night at Bow River's Edge, as they were heading south for a 5 week holiday.  It was great they could stop and visit with us!!
Oct 21st we left Cochrane and headed to B.C.  We tried to stay at Crazy Creek Campground but the water was turned off and we had no water in our tank.  We carried on and decided to stay at Kekuli Bay Prov. Park.  Their water was also turned off but we were able to fill our tank.  This park is so pretty!!  We stayed 2 days here then off to Osoyoos to stay at Nk'Mip RV Resort.  We will be here till the 22nd of November, then we make the push south!!

Year 4 in Kananaskis

Well, yesterday we left Ghost Station Campground to go to Boulton Creek Campground(Staff Compound) for the summer season.  It was snowing like crazy when we left, but soon let up.  We stopped at the Casino for breakfast, then off to Peter Lougheed Prov. Park.  The roads were nice and dry.  The compound was pretty dry too so we didn't get all muddy.  We had to move our trailer 3 times(in our spot) to get a satellite signal!!😛  We finally got one and finished setting up.  Late afternoon it started snowing and snowed through the night!  We had quite a dump of snow.  We are so glad we got here when we did!!  What a difference a day makes!!
