Winery Tour

Yesterday we went on a winery tour with our friends Claude & Val.  We had such a great day!  We toured 6 wineries!  The wineries we toured were:  Bordertown, Desert hills, Silver Sage, Hester Creek, Burrowing Owl, and Jackson-Triggs.  We tasted so many delicious wines!  The lady that gave us the wines to taste at Silver Sage was Hilarious!!  She really made the tasting fun!  We bought at least 5 bottles of wine on our tour, even some red, which is different for me because I usually go for the whites!! Doug and I need to go back to Silver Sage one evening because they have quite the Christmas light display, I really want to see it all lit up!!  We went back to Claude & Val's new place in Oliver, they just moved there.  It is a very nice place!  We had a drink and snacks and a nice visit.  When they took us back to Osoyoos we stopped at the Owl Pub and had dinner.  A very nice end to a great day!!  Here are pictures of our day!

NK'Mip RV Resort

We got here November 1st and it is a really nice resort.  Very well kept and lots of activities! People are very friendly here, we also met a nice couple that went to the Baja last winter.  We got lots of information from them.  They gave us a lot of tips and good places to stay.  There are a lot of wineries in this area.  This is the first time we have spent any amount of time in Osoyoos and I really like the area!  The park has a christmas winery tour and we are going to go on that one!!  Looking forward to tasting and buying some new wines!  They have a Monday meeting which we went to and they let you know all that is going on.  That is where we found out about the winery tour.  The weather has been fantastic, it is hard to believe we are in November.  I hope the weather is going to be nice the rest of the time we are here.  Here are some pictures.

Holiday Park RV Resort, Kelowna, BC

We got here yesterday at noon.  We checked in and got our spot, and got set up.  We went for a quick walk around.  This is a great resort with lots of activities.  I will definately take advantage while we are here. This morning after breakfast we walked and checked out all the rec. buildings and pools. We checked out the beach and the lake, which is quite nice!  We went to the Country Kitchen restaurant and store, they are having a Thanksgiving dinner, so we signed up for that!  I don't have to cook!!  They have a main rec. building which has a pool, hot tub, gym, and excersise classes like Zumba, which I am going to try.  I really like this resort, you can be as busy as you want or just relax!!  We are going to enjoy being here for the month!
Here are some pictures of the resort.

BC Bound

We left the farm on the 22nd and checked into Bow Rivers Edge.  We will stay here till the 27th when we will head to BC.  On the 24th Leon & Cindy had a big party, Retirement(Leon), 65th Birthday(Leon), and their 40th Anniversary.  It was a big bash with a lot of people.  Tiana did a great job of decorating and Calvin set off fireworks at the lake when it got dark.  The party was a great success!!
The 27th we packed up and took off for the Shuswap.  We are staying at Hidden Valley Resort.  We will be visiting with people we worked with at the park, and just enjoying the area for a few days till we go to Kelowna.

Off To The Farm(Barker's Retreat)!

After we left Kananaskis, we parked our unit in the Casino parking lot and stayed the night there.  In the morning we went for breakfast in the Casino, then off to Cochrane to meet Leon & Cindy.  We met in the old Canadian Tire parking lot.  I went into safeway and picked up the groceries we needed, and then we were all on our way.  We stopped in Red Deer to meet Gordy & Gertrude for lunch at the Windmill Cafe.  It was real nice to see them, and we had a very nice visit.  We stopped in Wetaskiwin at Kamparoo because Leon wanted to check them out.  We were then on our way to the farm. Herman texted us and asked approximately what time we would arrive.  I told him about 5:30pm.  When we got there we set up our units, and then went to sit around the fire for the evening.  We had a nice visit with Herman.  He had to leave on Friday as he was going to a Forestry Reunion, but he would be back on Sunday with Annette for a couple of days.  They couldn't stay longer because the were leaving for holidays to Halifax.  Doug & Leon helped Herman put up a shelter for his motorhome.  It took 2 days to put up.  Doug & Leon also repaired some fencing for Herman.  We had a fantastic 10 days at the farm.  The weather was gorgeous and fun was had by all.

Winding Down

Well, here we are at the end of our job at Mt. Sarrail in Kananaskis.  I cannot believe how fast the summer has gone!  We have enjoyed our job here.  We are coming back next summer, but we were offered different positions.  Doug will be working Maintenance, and I will be working at the Boulton Creek Trading Post.  The season is longer and we will be making more money.  We also get a spot with full hookups, bonus!!  Hopefully the weather will be better next year!  We had a summer with a lot of rain, and thunder storms!
September 26th we will be heading to BC, to Salmon Arm.  We are going to stay a few days to catch up with people we worked with at Scotch Creek.  Then we are off to Kelowna for the month of October.  November and December we will be staying at NK'MIP Rv Park.  We are going to fly back for Christmas to spend the holiday with family.  December 28th we will be driving back to Osoyoos with friends.  We will ring in the New Year at the RV Park, apparently they have a great New Years Eve Bash!  January 2nd we will head south for the winter!  Baja here we come!!!!
Here are a few pictures of our Summer in Kananaskis!
